Capri, in bougainvillea light and sea air.

A considered guide to the island — Piazzetta mornings under the bell tower, an afternoon between the Faraglioni and the Gardens of Augustus, and the long Mediterranean evening between L'Olivo and Da Paolino that Capri has quietly made its own.

A small island that keeps its hours in white walls and turquoise water.

A Note on the Island

Capri rewards those who keep close to the cliff path.

The island is small, vertical, and quietly demanding — the Piazzetta at the heart, the Faraglioni to the east, Marina Grande below, and the long evening between L'Olivo and Da Paolino that Capri has quietly kept to itself for generations.

What follows is a short, edited guide — four daytime moments, then two of each for the evening. Enough for a long weekend, or the start of something worth returning for.

VI · A Sketched Itinerary

One day, lightly drawn.

Not a schedule — a suggestion. Move with the light, the cliff path, and the company you keep.

  1. 10:00

    Coffee on the Piazzetta

Start at one of the marble-countered cafés on the Piazzetta — an espresso, a slow watch of the small square as Capri wakes. The day asks for nothing yet.

  2. 12:00

A morning gozzo around the island

Down to Marina Grande for an hour on a classic wooden gozzo — the cliffs running by, the Blue Grotto in the morning light, a long swim below the Faraglioni.

  3. 16:00

The Gardens of Augustus & Via Krupp

Up to the terraced gardens at golden hour — the Faraglioni catching the gold, then the slow descent down Via Krupp to Marina Piccola. Back to the hotel for the slow change.

  4. 18:30

    An aperitif at Bar Tiberio

An hour at the marble counter on the Piazzetta — an Aperol spritz in hand, the lamps coming on across the square. The European hour, slowly.

  5. 20:30

    Dinner

L'Olivo for the considered two-star evening above the gulf, Da Paolino for the long romantic dinner under the lemon trees in Marina Grande. Both deserve the early reservation.

  6. 23:30

    If the night insists

Quisi Bar for the classical second round, then — if the night truly insists — Anema e Core for the late Neapolitan hour or VV Club for the upscale close. The Faraglioni will keep.

A Closing Thought

"On Capri the evening is unhurried, the company chosen, and the island is at its best for those who keep close to the cliff path."
