The town is small enough to know in a long weekend and serious enough to keep returning to. The Old Town for the morning, the beach for the afternoon, and the long evening between Skina and Marbella Club that the Costa has quietly made its own.

The hour drive inland to the white village on the cliff — the Puente Nuevo bridge, the Plaza de Toros, a long lunch at one of the quieter rooms in the Old Town. Back by the early evening, in time for a drink.

Marcos Granda's twelve-seat dining room in a narrow lane of the Old Town — two Michelin stars, three Repsol suns, and the kind of considered Andalusian cooking that earns the early reservation. The most refined small room in town.
